How to Use the Add-On

  1. Enter API Token:

    • Begin by logging in as an administrator to your Jira instance.

    • Access the Easy Backup add-on and enter your API token for authentication. This token serves as a secure identifier for backup operations.

  2. Schedule a Backup:

    • Specify your preferred day and time for automated backup creation.

    • The add-on provides a simple and straightforward scheduling interface where you can select the frequency of backups and the specific days and times.

  3. Schedule Backups for Once a Week:

    • If you require weekly backups, configure the add-on to generate backups at a specific day and time each week. This ensures consistent data protection without manual intervention.

  4. Schedule Backups for Twice a Week:

    • For organizations with heightened data protection needs, Easy Backup allows you to schedule backups twice a week. Select two separate days and times for backup generation to meet your requirements.

 Install addon on Jira Instance from the Atlassian marketplace

  1. Open your Jira product and go to the top navigation bar. Click on the Settings icon (Cog icon).

  2. From the dropdown menu, choose Apps.

  3. In the Apps section, use the search bar to look for "Easy Backup for Jira."

  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to either Get app or initiate a Free trial of the addon.

Configure Addon

  1. Again, go to the top navigation bar and click on the Settings icon (Cog icon).

  2. Choose Apps from the dropdown menu.

  3. On the left panel of your instance, locate and click on the installed addon.

  4. Generate and Enter an API Token: You'll need to generate an API token for your Jira instance. Refer to this documentation for instructions on how to generate this token.

  5. Schedule a Backup: To set up a backup schedule, start from the addon's home screen. Click on "Schedule Backup," located at the top right corner. Choose your desired backup interval (e.g., once a week or twice a week), select the hour, and then choose the specific day for the backup.

  6. Save Your Backup and Stay Informed: Once you've configured the backup settings, save your preferences. From this point on, you can relax knowing that the addon will handle backups based on your schedule. You'll also receive notifications when backups are completed.
