Attachment Viewer Migration Tool Manual

A tool that allows us to migrate attachments between versions of Attachment Viewer. It applies only to the Job Planning Line and Job Ledger Entry tables, because the corresponding pages in the standard version of Business Central are not allowed to have attachments.

All other pages where Attachment Viewer is available are not concerned by this tool. Any attachments that were in the system before the extension (or a new version of the extension) was installed will be migrated automatically because Attachment Viewer uses standard Business Central tables and storage. So, in these cases, there is no need to migrate anything.

How to use the tool:

  1. Search for Attachment Viewer Migration

  2. Click on Save current State (a window pops up notifying me of the number of documents backed up)

  3. Uninstall the current version of Attachment Viewer, e.g. via Advanced Seetings → Extensions (or via Extension Management)

  4. Download a new version of Attachment Viewer (via Extension Marketplace)

  5. Go back to Attachment Viewer Migration and click on Restore State from backup (a window will pop up telling me the number of restored documents - it must be the same as the number of the backed up documents)

  6. I verify that all of the documents have been sucessfully migrated
